MSCA Phillip Island wrap up – March 2018
Our second sprint of the year was at a rather inclement Phillip Island where the weather gods couldn’t decide if it was summer or winter, not that it really mattered for my Little Clubbie who barely saw the circuit. More about that later.
Around 112 competitors took to the track on GP day in a variety of cars, from racey Abarth’s, to beautiful Healey’s. We welcomed an impressive field of 14 Lotuses, including one pretty orange Elise smugly driven by the Husband. We welcomed the return of some Come and Try graduates and some lovely familiar faces. After the event we enjoyed a meal trackside and watched the GP with fellow MSCA buddies.
The fastest time of the day belonged to Peter Nowlan with a scorching time of 1:42.7 followed closely by Joshua Robins who clocked an impressive time of 1:45.4.
My Little Clubbie has had better track days. She popped fuses and endured two consecutive Tows of Shame, resulting in a total track time of around 20 minutes for the entire day. Not a great start to the season. Meanwhile the other Astbury was doing just fine. The Husband had a lovely time driving my Elise in true style. He may have even had the radio going, singing along to Celine Dion. No sign of him giving up the driver’s seat any time soon. Apparently, I need to practice my gear changes before I’m allowed back on the track.
We’re back at Sandown on Saturday 28 April, on the eve of the Porsche Regularity event. This is a great opportunity to shake down your car in preparation for the regularity relay. Entries for this event are open and filling fast. We are also to fill an MSCA team for the Porsche Regularity event. If you’re interested please contact Bruce: email@example.com
Our Mother’s Day sprint at Winton on Sunday 13 May is sure to be a hit. In recognition of this special day and the support the ladies provide to our Boy Racers, we’re inviting the ladies to enjoy a Mother’s Day lunch on us at Restaurant Merlot at Lindenwarrah winery, Milawa. This includes a free shuttle bus to and from the track to the winery. Spots are limited to 10, so be sure to register for this when you enter.
