MSCA Wrap: Winton - April 2023

Hi everyone

There’s something lovely about heading to Winton; the country air, good pub meals, the relaxed vibe and great company. Around 100 drivers enjoyed this technical track and some friendly rivalry.  The Husband fulfilled his main job which was to keep the rain away.  Remarkably against the BOM’s odds, he did just that.  We managed to complete all 5 competition runs for each group before the heavens opened and settled in for the rest of the weekend.  The event ran like clockwork, which was only possible because our drivers did a sterling job of keeping their cars (mostly) on the black stuff. There was a blown engine, a bogged car and a few pirouettes through the esses which kept things spicy.  We had only one red flag and two recoveries for the day.  It was a smooth day in the office for the folks in the tower and relaxed pre-birthday day for The Husband.

The fastest time of the day was Andrew Smith in his very shiny Porsche 997 Cup Car with an awesome time of 1:31:1, followed closely by Phil Nicholson a Lotus Exige Cup 430 with a time of 1:31:8. Well done to you both!

A huge thank you to our officials, especially our dedicated flaggies who made the trip up the highway to stand on a flag point and dodge the snakes to keep us safe.

Sandown, Sunday 7 May

Our next event is just around the corner! We are heading to Sandown a few weeks’ time and entries are open. This track is popular so register for the event so you don’t miss out.

The Bend, 3 & 4 June

We’re heading back to South Australia to challenge ourselves at The Bend. It takes a bit of practice to remember this impressive circuit so why not make it a double header and compete on Saturday and Sunday? This weekend will be co-run by Porsche Club Vic and the MSCA and everyone is welcome to run on both days. Saturday’s results will count towards points for Porsche Club members championship and Sunday’s times will be point scored for the MSCA Championship. We won’t be running regularity at this event. The MSCA will be hosting a dinner on Saturday night which is a great chance to get together with friends and fellow competitors. There are still some spots available, so pop yourself down for what is sure to be a great weekend away.

See you at Sandown.

Petrina
